Hallidays Point – Nov 2019 – West Wyalong

30 November 2019

West Wyalong was the target destination for the second day of our trip to visit dad.

Day 2

Hay

Exiting the free camp at Tooleybuc was an interesting exercise. The entrance to the camp site is angled such that turning in the direction we needed to go was an impossible task with the caravan attached. No big deal, I guess. We just backtracked a few hundred metres until we found somewhere we could perform a u-turn. First stop then was for fuel just outside Balranald, as a large portion of this day’s travel was going to be along the Sturt Highway across the Hay Plains to Hay. Hay was a good place to stop for some lunch and they also offer a place to fill your water tanks. We have stopped in this town many a time in our travels between Sydney and Adelaide, but this was the first time with a caravan in tow.

At Hay we switched to the Mid-Western Highway towards West Wyalong.

Weethalle

Along the way we stopped at Weethalle for our first painted silo, and for Jack to have a drink and stretch his legs.

West Wyalong

Another 50-odd minutes up the road and we were pulling into the West Wyalong Showgrounds for our overnight stop. The showgrounds provide powered sites for RVs for $15 per night and provide showers, toilets and a dump point. It was a little confusing as to exactly where to go once inside the showgrounds, as it is poorly signed, but we just sought out other RVs.

Another day done and dusted.
