After a couple of days visiting friends it was time to head home.

We decided to split this segment of the return trip into 2 days of travel. Without the caravan in tow it would be a long, but relatively easy single day of driving, but just the thought of trying to reverse the van into the driveway after 9+ hours on the road is sickening.

Splitting the trip does have other advantages though, and we were able to cross off another couple of Big Things on the first day, those being The Big Strawberry at Koonoomoo and The Big Murray Cod at Tocumwal.

Back on the road and lunch (Darren’s) was from the local bakery in Deniliquin, which, apart from being home to a painted water tower, also had some interesting items at the local rest stop. Here was a piece of art representing the timber industry and the Deniliquin and District Transport Industry Wall of Fame.

Our final stop and camp for the night was a free camp site known as the “Kulwin Overnighter” just outside of Ouyen, Victoria. It’s nothing more than a wide dirt track, 100 metres or so off the Mallee Highway, 23 km outside Ouyen near the Kulwin Nature Reserve.

The following day we headed home with no stops of interest.
