S.A. Meetup

7 June 2019

Goodbye Rollingstone, hello Barossa Valley.

As those who have been following this blog will know, we had been planning a trip to Rollingstone this September/October. Most will also know that the trip was for the Kokoda Nationals. We cancelled this trip because we are no longer purchasing a Kokoda caravan, due to the company’s financial woes. We just didn’t feel we could take the risk at the time, even though the company now has new ownership. The organisers had said we were still welcome, but it didn’t feel right. Also, the change in van delayed the purchase, so we won’t be ready to tackle such a long trip so soon. We need practice!

However…

Our dealer – Cameron Caravans – recently posted on the Crusader owners group asking if anyone who purchased their caravans through them were interested in a meetup . Let’s just say the response was fast and positive. We put our hands up (of course), despite not yet having our van. Just like we did for the Kokoda Nationals. This new meetup will be held on a mid-October weekend in the Barossa Valley. A little closer to home than Rollingstone, and so more comfortable for us newbies. The originally 30 site booking had to be increased, such was the response. It finally became all of the available sites in the Barossa Valley Tourist Park (Tanunda). 74 is the number, I believe.

Just as with Rollingstone, Megan’s dad, Bob, has indicated he’d like to come too, however he is thinking he’ll stay in one of the bungalows.

  1. I’m also investigating trying to integrate the comments on this site with Facebook for greater user interaction, but I’m a cheapskate so still looking for a free (or cheapish, one-time cost) solution. 🙂

  2. It’s October 18-20.

I’m trying to post more often. Mainly as practice but also to form a habit. It is difficult at this stage though, as not much to report. This meetup originated in mid-May, but I didn’t think to post it until now. The Lake Mulwala post is about the same time period, but I needed to find time to edit, convert and upload the video.

  3. When is it? Sounds like fun and a great replacement for the original meetup. I can tell you are getting ramped up for this–you’re posting a LOT more.
