A little help for Jack Jack

4 August 2019

Our dog, Jack Jack, is no longer a puppy. He can’t jump up on the sofa or bed the way he once used to. Some might think that a good thing, but he loves to be with his people, and we love it when he sits on our lap or snuggles up against us. He sleeps on the end of our bed most nights. He practically sleeps on our heads some nights! And we want the same to happen when we start travelling in our caravan. At home we have a set of puppy stairs. Thanks to Lisa for those. Those in combination with a dining chair allow him to get up on the bed. There is no room for that setup in the caravan.

What we decided was that we’d create a custom set of steps that could be placed to the side or end of the caravan bed. These would need to be made to overcome several limitations of the layout:

  • The available floor space
  • The bedside drawer location and height
  • The bed height

Plan

So we visited our friendly, neighbourhood Crusader dealer – yet again – and measured up the space in their floor model Kingsman (obviously, this was before our van arrived at the dealer), which gave us the dimensions shown here.

And Jack seems to like it
