About Us

Hi all,

We are Darren & Megan Doody from Adelaide, South Australia. We are just your typical Australian couple, married for 20+ years, with 2 great boys and, like many, we had a dream…

Until mid-2018 that dream had been that we would start house (and pet) sitting our way around Europe once our youngest finished high school in 2020… we have friends who do this and it seemed like a great way to see more of the world. We both work from home, so it almost doesn’t matter where we are, we just need internet.

However, there was a fly in that ointment, or two flies really. Our dads. Both of us have lost our mums, and our dads are both in their 80’s. Both are in reasonable health too, which is great, but we realised we didn’t want to be on the other side of the world – with house (or pet) sitting commitments – should that situation change suddenly.

Thus was born the “let’s tour Australia instead” idea.

So here we are. This new “dream” is what this blog is all about. We are documenting our preparations, plans, ideas, and – eventually – travels around this amazing country.

We have never camped before (in any meaningful way). Not tents, not caravans, nothing.

This could be… interesting.
