The first big trip – update

4 December 2018

We have now planned out our return trip. It adds an additional 3,800 km to the 2,900 km of the route to Rollingstone. 6,700 km in total… not to be sneezed at.

The whole trip is to be completed in 31 days. This includes the 6 “official” days at Rollingstone for the Kokoda Nationals, plus a few non-travel days on the way back to visit with family and friends.

The itinerary is all quite open to change at this point, but for our friends in Sydney, we expect to arrive there in the evening on October 1st and leave on the morning of the 4th. We currently think we may stay at the Lane Cove River Tourist Park, but as it is in a national park we may not be able to stay there because of Jack Jack.

Update:

Lane Cove River Tourist Park is indeed out. No dogs allowed. Another site will need to be found in the Sydney region.

For a look at the first section of this trip, see this earlier post.

Google maps limit us to 9 stops per trip, so here is the return journey broken into two sections.

The break in these maps, at Hallidays Point, is about half way between Forster and Taree. We are stopping in there because that’s where my dad lives, and we couldn’t pass by without stopping. How rude would that be?

Just like the northward journey, the travel days here have been broken into roughly 400 km sections.
