Trouble in van land

Details are still sketchy, but it looks like Kokoda may be in receivership.

Update: Feb 14, 2019

Our dealer has informed us this is in fact correct. Aussie Adventure Caravans Pty Ltd, the owners of the Kokoda brand, have gone into administration. Our dealer has informed us that we can either have our deposit refunded, or continue to have the van built by the same builder, just not branded as Kokoda, and at a reduced price – I am assuming this is due to removing Kokoda from the transaction. This is possible because Kokoda sub-contracted out most of their builds and most of the sub-contractors are unaffected. We will know more in a few days

Update: Feb 18, 2019

We decided not to proceed with the purchase of the caravan. We decided we just couldn’t take the risk of owning an unbranded van. We have informed Michael from Adelaide City Caravans of our decision and he assures us we will get our deposit back. Our concern is that the parent company may owe large amounts to its builders, which could place them in a difficult financial position as well.

Update: April 28, 2019

We finally got our $3,000 deposit back today.
