Willowbank (Mar 22)

On visiting our friends in Toowoomba around 2 weeks ago, we decided that Megan’s father, Bob, should come and visit. We knew that Paul was ill with cancer, but it was progressing and did not look good. Paul and his family are long time friends of Megan’s parents, so we asked Bob if he would like to visit while we were there. So here we are, heading back the way we came.
Rather than ask our friends to host us again, plus Bob, we booked a spot and a unit for Bob at Toowoomba Caravan Park. But first up, we drove to Brisbane to pick Bob up at the airport.
We spent a couple of days in Toowoomba, but since these days were about Paul, they aren’t documented here.

We all left the day of Bob’s flight home, and since Brisbane has a few places named in I’ve Been Everywhere as well as a Silo Trail item, we did a bit of a drive through the city before dropping Bob at the airport for his flight home. But first, on the way from Toowoomba to Brisbane was the Big Orange in the Lockyer Valley. I’m not sure if this counts as a real “Big Thing,” but here it is.

The places in Brisbane we could check off our lists are: the ‘everywhere’ places of Indooroopilly and Yeerongpilly and the Silo Trail place of the Green Hill Water Reservoir. The photos for the two Brisbane suburbs are the best we could do with the caravan in tow through the city streets.
With those under our belt, Megan ensured that Bob was all set for his flight home and we headed to our stop for the night at Willowbank Caravan Park as that was south of Brisbane in the direction we wanted to head the following day. Being close to RAAF Amberley, this old RAAF plane was mounted just outside the caravan park.
